Upgrading tennis court floodlights to LED: can you keep your poles?

Upgrading tennis court floodlights to LED: can you keep your poles?

Replacing tennis court floodlights with LED often starts with a practical question: can the existing poles stay? It is worth investigating, but keeping the poles should be an assessed option rather than an assumption.

Record what is already there

Prepare a simple plan showing every court and pole position. Add pole heights, photographs of the fittings and brackets, and any available electrical or structural records. Note whether neighbouring courts share poles. Accurate site information helps avoid a proposal based on the wrong layout.

Arrange the right checks

Ask a suitably qualified professional to assess the condition and suitability of the poles, foundations, brackets and electrical installation for the proposed equipment. The lighting proposal and the installation assessment have different purposes: a lighting calculation does not establish that an existing pole is safe to reuse.

Check the proposed lighting layout

Give the designer the actual mounting locations and your intended use of the courts. Ask what changes, if any, are needed to deliver the agreed lighting performance. Do not assume that replacing each old floodlight with one new fitting is the right solution.

Define the full installation scope

Clarify who supplies access equipment, removes the old fittings, handles electrical work, aims the new lights and disposes of removed equipment. Agree the checks and records required at handover. Confirm any site permissions and operating constraints before committing to a date.

Plan around court bookings

Confirm equipment availability and the delivery estimate before booking installation or taking courts out of service. Include time for site access and final checks. Tennis lighting lead times are quoted for the project; the dispatch estimate shown for squash products does not apply automatically.

Send us your existing layout

Global LED Lights can discuss a tennis lighting proposal with LEDBERG using your site information. Send the location, court plan, pole heights and photos, and tell us whether you need equipment supply only or want to discuss installation support.
