Squash club LED lighting budget: two, four or six courts

A multi-court LED upgrade needs a club-wide budget, not just a price per light. Start with the proposed layout on each court, then add transport, installation, access equipment and any electrical work. This guide gives transparent equipment examples for two, four and six squash courts using the AXION 1500.

Our current fixture price is €275 per AXION 1500, excluding VAT and transport. The figures below are planning examples based on that price, not a fixed quotation for a completed installation.

First decide what each court needs

We usually start with nine lights for many club courts and recommend considering twelve for higher-level competition. The final number depends on the court and its lighting design; neither quantity automatically certifies compliance with a playing standard.

For the layout decision, read our nine-versus-twelve fixture guide. You do not have to use the same quantity throughout a centre if the court assessments and intended uses differ.

Fixture and shipping budget for two, four or six courts

These examples apply the current squash-light shipping charge of €35 per package of up to ten fixtures to a single combined order delivered to one address in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria or Romania. All amounts exclude VAT. Installation and other project services are not included. Confirm the final delivery charge at checkout or in your quotation.

Courts Lights per court Total lights Fixtures Shipping Combined
2 9 18 €4,950 €70 €5,020
2 12 24 €6,600 €105 €6,705
4 9 36 €9,900 €140 €10,040
4 12 48 €13,200 €175 €13,375
6 9 54 €14,850 €210 €15,060
6 12 72 €19,800 €280 €20,080

The calculation is: total fixtures × €275, plus €35 × the number of packages. Round the package count up to the next whole package. These transport examples are for squash fixtures; they should not be used to price heavier outdoor tennis or padel lights.

Example: three club courts and one competition court

If the approved design uses nine lights on three courts and twelve on the fourth, the order contains 39 fixtures. The equipment cost is €10,725. Four packages add €140, giving €10,865 excluding VAT for fixtures and this shipping example.

That calculation makes it easy to compare a mixed layout with a uniform arrangement. The lighting assessment should determine the appropriate layout before the budget is finalised.

Keep installation and equipment costs separate

Ask your installer or project partner to identify the following items in the quotation:

  • Removal and appropriate disposal of existing fittings.
  • Mounting components and any changes to suspension points.
  • Access equipment, delivery and collection of that equipment.
  • Cabling, switching and electrical alterations where needed.
  • Lighting design, testing and commissioning.
  • Court protection, cleaning and the time courts will be unavailable.

An equipment-only comparison can make one proposal look cheaper when another includes more work. Our upgrade planning checklist helps you define a consistent scope.

Estimate electricity use across the club

Each AXION 1500 is rated at 50 W. Nine fixtures total 0.45 kW per court; twelve total 0.60 kW. Multiply the rated load by the hours the lights actually operate, then by your electricity price per kWh.

For example, four courts with nine fixtures each total 1.8 kW. At 2,000 operating hours per court per year and an illustrative €0.25/kWh, the fixture electricity cost is €900 per year. Four courts with twelve fixtures each total 2.4 kW, or €1,200 per year on the same assumptions. These are rated-load estimates, not measured consumption or guaranteed savings.

If court usage differs, calculate each court separately and add the results. Opening hours are not necessarily lighting hours. To calculate the reduction from your existing installation, use the LED savings calculator and our squash energy-savings guide.

Upgrade together or in stages?

A single project may reduce repeated site visits and access-equipment mobilisation. A phased programme may make it easier to keep courts available and spread expenditure. Ask for both options if those trade-offs matter to your club.

Do not automatically split a combined transport allowance across separate deliveries. Package rounding can change the cost: two separate orders of nine fixtures each cost €35 each under this rate, while two separate orders of twelve each cost €70 each. Agree delivery stages and costs before ordering.

Prepare a useful quotation request

Send the number of courts, ceiling heights, existing fixture positions, photographs, intended playing level and whether the work should be phased. Tell us which costs your own electrician will cover.

View the AXION 1500 specifications or request a multi-court lighting proposal. We can then discuss the right equipment scope for your centre.
